Happy Thanksgiving!!

My oh my. I need to catch up on my posts. This week has been really nice though, Josh and I have been able to spend a good bit of quality time with one another. It was much needed.

Happy Turkey Day, Everyone!!
I'm thankful for many, many things this year and every year.

*Josh - My husband, he loves and cares for me like no one ever has. I couldn't imagine my life without him. So much of who I am and who I want to be is because of him. He makes me want to be a better me. Love you for Eternity!

*Family - I hate not being able to drive down the road to see any of you, it makes it painful some days, but I am thankful that you live close enough for us to make weekend trips on occassion. I love you all and you all have shaped my life into something great. I gained a "second" family on 7.31.10 and they fit right in. I love you all more than you could possibly ever know. Thank you for everything!

*My Seester - I gained that same day in '10 a wonderful seester and I don't get to see or talk to her nearly enough, but I love her and everything about her. I'm so very excited for her engagement and can't wait to take part in one of the best days of her life on 7.13.13. Love you very much, Aleece!

*Friends - Life wouldn be quite boring without them. I blessed to have many good friends and quite a few best friends, who I would do absolutely anything for and I know they would in return. I wish we had more time to spend together, but what we do I cherish like no other. Love you all!

*Ellie Mae - Our little girl. She frustrates me and gets under my skin like no other, but she knows how to turn my day upside down. She can brighten my day so easily. I'm most thankful for her companionship, especially when Josh is working and I am home "alone". She's the most cuddly, playful puppy and I love her to death! Love you babygirl!

*Our Home - We have been fortunate enough to land an amazing deal on a gorgeous home back on 10.26.10. We've put a lot of work into it and a lot more is ahead, but I am very thankful for every moment of it. Paying a mortgage instead of rent is so self gratifying.

*Our Careers - If it wasn't for Josh getting his dream "job" we wouldn't be where we are today. We wouldn't own a home in WV, I'm sure of that. If it wasn't for looking for a home in WV, I would have never meant my mentor and good friend, Adam Shively, who got me into Real Estate and I would have never found my career and calling. For that I am thankful.

There's a lot more I am thankful for, but that's 7 Blessings on the top of my head. What are you thankful for?

The Reveal

It's time to reveal our fireplace...

It's took just over a month to complete and we had a lot of headaches with it, especially with the mortar mix. See my rant about it HERE, but it was absolutely worth it.

I'm going to post the progress pictures on Wednesday, in my House to Home post, but this will do for now. What do you all think? =) We absolutely love it, like I said..couldn't be happier!

It's hard to see, but on the L side when look at it, is a built in bookshelf and the middle area you see in the front is where our satellite box, dvd player, and ps3 are housed. We plan to get an electric insert, but the one we wanted is sold out at Lowe's, so we will have to order it online. Can't wait!

Rooms and Things > Overplayed Songs

Not feeling too well tonight, had to call off work, but I have nothing better to do, so I'm lounging on our new super comfy couch and catching up on my blogging. Tonight, I reveal our fireplace we've worked so hard on (in a later post).

Love <3

Not My Favorite (Rant)
Overplayed Songs.

The regular radio just seems to be getting worse and worse. You hear the same songs at least twice within an hour. I appreciate all music and I like a lot of songs when they come out, but by the time they've been "aired" for two weeks they've been entirely overplayed.

This makes me miss the first car I bought, a Chevy Cobalt. It was equipped with Satellite radio. I'm aware I could get it for my car and have Josh install it, but that's a hassle and it costs too much right now. I have better things to put my money towards.

Thank god for a cd player and ipod hookups or I may go nuts. The radio just continues to get worse and worse. The only time I enjoy it, is the morning shows when they really aren't playing music.

Love Me Some (Rave)
Rooms and Things.

Roomsandthings.com, that is. The couch you saw above was a purchase from there.

We had gone looking at all of the furniture stores in the area and finally came across one we loved at an Ashley Home Furniture Store in Frederick. It was priced over our budget and to deliver would cost $150. We were hesitating so we wrote down the information and took it with us.

That night I hopped on the computer and did some research. I came across this site and got excited and skeptical at the same time. They were selling it for $500 cheaper, with free shipping and no tax (I'm sure it was factored in to the price, but still!). I did what I always do with online stores and looked at the reviews. Every one of them were great, time was the only complaint, but we weren't in any rush, so 1-3 weeks..not bad.

They offered the couch in two different configurations (R facing and L facing corner), I clarified which I wanted and added it to my cart. I was beyond nervous because of how large of a purchase it was over the internet, but the reviews were spot on.

At checkout, I saw a space for a "coupon code" and I decide to Google one. So happy I did, because I found one for 5% off the total. I ended up saving almost $600 dollars from the original price we saw at the local store. Can't beat that!!

After I placed the order it was only a day or so later that I was contacted to make sure they were sending the right corner. They actually called twic, which was really nice, because they wanted to make sure they had the order right.

I originally placed the order on 11/3/11 and we got a call Friday 11/18/11 that they would deliver on Monday (today) if that would be okay. So It took 18 days for it to get to us. Not bad, in my opinion.

It was a great transaction and everything was delivered perfectly. It took no time to set up and we are in love. There are just so many things we love about. I'm really, really happy with this purchase.

If you're looking for furniture or even accessories, check out Rooms and Things, I'm sure you'll love them too!

An Old CD

Amazing, what an old cd can do.

Songs.

Lyrics.

I was looking for songs to dance to just a minute ago and came across some from before Josh and I got together. Certain songs, just take me back. Back to a time, I care not to remember most of the time, but it's what made me, ME.

It makes me realize how far I've come, how far I've been, and how far I'm going to go. I'm going to be successful, I'm going to make some change in this world, whether it be a small one or not. I may only be 22..I get razzed for it almost every single day.

Yes, I'm 22, but I know what I want. I see, I strive, and I attain.

I love my life and everything in it, unlike a time not too long ago.

Josh and I have been married for coming up on a year and half in January. We own our own home. There are not too many people out there who can say that. I'm proud, slash that. I'm damn proud.

I didn't get stuck in my hometown, where most did. I've ventured and achieved. I'm on my way to greatness, but most of all I'm happy.

I couldn't be happier.
Life is wonderful..people often talk of how life as a "child" was much easier..I find these days easiest. I gripe just like every other person, but all in all, life is easier then it ever was then for me. It's simple. I'm doing what I love, so there for I love life and I have the most amazing husband on this journey with me.

My advice....If you're not happy..change it. You deserve it. Only you know where you came from and what you can do. Strive, achieve, and attain!

Brown Sugar Oatmel Body Scrub

This one started out as a Pinterst find, but ended up being me googling and experimenting. I saw this pin that had Lauren Conrad as the picture and her "recipe" for an exfoliant and all it was, was baking soda and water. I didn't feel like this would be too healthy for your skin, so I started to Google.

I came across this recipe for a body scrub...

Brown Sugar Oatmel Body Scrub
-
3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of ground oatmel
- 1/4 cup of honey
- base oil (jojoba, coconut, olive oil..)
- essential oils

Oh I guess I should say that the reason I started looking for something was to exfoliate before using my self tanning lotion I purchased, Jergens Moisturizer.

I ended up using:
- 3/4 cup mix of brown sugar and regular sugar (I didn't have quite enough brown sugar)
- 1/2 cup ground oatmel
- 1/4 cup of honey
- olive oil
- lemon juice (the one the little plastic lemon bottle)

It was pretty simple, the goal is to gently take away dead cells so it really did the job and it smells really good. I've used it twice now and my skin has been super, super soft! I believe what I made will last me for 2 months, maybe even more, and that's with using it every other day.

I encourage you all to try it, it took no time and stores nicely in just a regular plastic container.

Kindle > Time

I'll have to add my little image for "Not My Favorite, Love Me Some" later at home since I'm writing this one in the internet cafe at the casino.

Not My Favorite (Rant)
Time.

Yeah, I know. Time is kind of unchangeable, but seriously..where does it go? There is NOT enough time in the day/week/months/year. Some reason this hit me when I realized today that I've been paying on my car for almost 3 years. Yikes! Speaking of, I think I'm going to look into refinancing that, eh we'll see.

Back to the subject. I put so much on myself, I have so much going on, and a lot of people wonder why I do it. Well, all those things make me happy and I wish I had more time to do them all. I enjoy working (odd, I know), reading, writing, blogging, dancing, choreographing, going out...need I go on? I just love to be constantly busy.

I'm getting the chance to start teaching dance on occassion at a local high school and I'm estatic. I honest am having a hard time figuring out how I'm going to do it, but just like always..I'll make it happen.

I guess that's my little "rant". Time, sucks.

Love Me Some (Rave)
Kindle.

I freaking love this thing. I'm finally getting to use it, since I'm done with the "real" books that I got last Christmas. I couldn't thank Josh enough for such a great Christmas gift. It's so light weight, durable, and lets face it, it's pretty cheap. I can have all my books on there, I can bring it to work and have it tucked away easily, it doesn't take up any room. It's just marvelous.

I had no idea when I got it that you can get on the internet and surf and even download games, but obviously you can. It's pretty awesome. I barely use those 2 features, but for the price?! How can you beat that?!

I LOVE my Kindle and I'm LOVING the Steve Jobs Biography. If you like to read and even if you don't it's worth picking up, in my opinion. I've never been much of an "Apple Person", but I've gained a pretty large respect for the company so far. Now, I haven't completed it so we'll see how I feel by the end, but so far, so good.

That's all for this evening, really. I think I'll post 2 entries tomorrow, one in addition to my normal "daily post".

NFL Picks Week 10

First off, I'm so excited about the new uploading picture feature on here. They've made it so you can pick multiple pictures instead of choosing them individually. It seems to upload quicker too. I know my fellow bloggers will appreciate this, it's so much nicer.

On to our picks for the week. We had to pick on Thursday, but here's who we choose. *Hoping for a good week*

Raiders VS Chargers
Cardinals VS Eagles
Rams
VS Browns
Titans VS Panthers
Jaguars VS Colts
Bills VS Cowboys
Broncos VS Chiefs
Texans VS Buccaneers
Saints VS Falcons
Redskins VS Dolphins
Steelers
VS Bengals
Ravens VS Seahawks
Lions
VS Bears
Giants VS 49ers
Patriots VS Jets
Vikings VS Packers

And just a reminder the picks we make also factor a point spread, so it may not be that we think the bolded team will win, but they will beat out the point spread.

So far we lost Thursday and are winning 6/9 currently.

Here's hoping the Steelers pick it up and beat out the Bengals.

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Blog Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. Liebster is a German word meaning dear, sweet, kind, nice, good, beloved, lovely, kindly, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome.

To keep this award going and pass it along to other new deserving blogs, the recipient must now recognize five other bloggers with less than 200 followers that have really stood out in the crowd.

I recieved this award through an interweb friend, Cari. I met her a few years ago on theknot.com. We got married in the same month and year and connected on many levels during the process. I hope to meet her someday, especially since she lives so close to where Josh and I are originally from (up in the Pittsburgh area).

The rules for the Liebster Award are:1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top five picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love too!

I don't have 5 active bloggers that I follow, I do have 4 though. I'm just too new right now, but hopefully I can come back and add someone in the near future.

1. Rachael - Row Merrily : A friend of mine who I orginally met on theknot.com as well. She lives 20 minutes from me though so we have met and even hung out a few times. Her blog is a little bit of everything. Topics include her beautiful daughter, Natalie, her husband, cleaning, and crafts to name a few. It's great fun to follow.

2. Ashley - Oh So Ashley : She's newer to the blogging world as well and I met her on theknot.com too. She's another one I have yet to meet, but I hope to one day. Her blog currently is focusing on the something she's thankful for daily, an appropriate topic for November. It's a great read.

3. Val - This Whole Mommy Thing : This is again another knottie who I have yet to meet. Her blog has been really great to follow through her pregnancy. Josh and I aren't planning on having kids anytime soon, but I hope to one day and it's been a great "heads up". She just had her little bundle of joy too, so I can't wait to see some photos of her bouncing baby boy!

4. Greg - The Life and Times of Greg Jackson : Finally, someone I actually knew before the internet. He graduated at the same high school as me. His blog is rather hilarious and I enjoy his take on things as well as "creative editing". It gives me a good laugh.
5. TBD.

Thanks again, Cari!!

My Husband Rocks #2

So I'm linking up with Rachael who is doing "My Husband Rocks" Fridays.

Josh deserves more than one day every other week, but it's some kind of way to show my appreciation. He is a wonderful man and does so much that I don't thank him for nearly enough.

This week My Husband Rocks, because of his patience with me.

Patience in teaching me. Lately, I've been wanting to learn more about the actual game of football, as far as calls and positions. I know a good bit, but I want to know more. He's been really patient and answering my otherwise silly questions.

It's not the first time he's taught me something, or at least tried. The guitar. Yeah, that's just not for me..my fingers just don't bend that way.

This past weekend just brought it back to my attention how patient he is with me, especially when teaching me something new.

Thanks, hubby! =)

Chicken Noodle Soup

Tried It Out Thursdays. (A day late)

For the past 3 weeks or so I've really been craving homemade chicken noodle soup, so while browsing on Pinterest I came across a pin for homemade noodles. Yumm!

Here's the original link that I used to make my noodles.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 Cups Flour
3 Medium Eggs
1 Tsp Salt
3/4 Cup Cold Water

Stir all ingredients together until you see small crumbs begin to form..

Step 1. Combine Flour and Salt in a mixing bowl, create a well in the middle, and add the eggs..

Step 2: Slowly add the water in and stir together, as you do you will begin to notice it "clumping" more.
Continue to add the rest of the water until all the crumbs are gone and you have one firm, elastic, dough ball left.
*I will say that I ended up using my hands to knead it all together, using a spoon didn't seem to get the job done*

My dough ball, close to being ready. Once you have one smooth ball, sit aside for 10 minutes.

I have no idea if this is myth or not, but something I picked up from my mom is to use a towel to cover the bowl with dough. She always did it when we made pizza dough. Not sure if it "truely" makes a difference, but it seems to.

Step 3. Roll out the dough as thin as possible on a floured service. Honestly, the more flour the better (that way it doesn't stick). When the dough is boiled it will incease about 3x in size (they're really not joking about this one..that's why I say the thinner the better).

Then using a pizza cutter, make your strips. I probably cold have made them smaller and froze what I didn't use, because these ended up being a bit long.

*If at any point the dough sticks to your hands, sprinkle flour on your hands and continue. It works, I promise.*

I took 4 chicken breast and cut them into vertical strips and then I cut them horizontally to make little cubes. I took these and began to boil them in a large pot while I prepared the rest of my ingredients.

I took 2 boxes of this chicken broth and 2 cups of water and combined them to boil everything in. I added on chicken bouillion cube as well to liven the flavor just a bit more.

I cut up 1/2 of an onion and small bag of baby carrots and added them to the pot.

The spices I added were a little bit of Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, and Salt. I'll say the black pepper made the biggest difference, it added just the right about of "spice" to the soup.

I added the noodles in about 20 minutes into the boiling. I then let it boil another 15 minutes. That length of time varies though on how you like your noddles. Just taste them!

I put together a quick salad then too.

It was simply delicious and I know Josh appreciated it. I don't get to cook much with the schedule I have. I'm hoping to be able to more since my casino schedule is down to 2 nights a week and only the 7pm-3am shift instead of the 11pm-7am (SO much easier!).

Bona = LOVE

House to Home Wendesdays! ( a few days late)

I introduce you to my first experience with the Bona Hardware Floor Care System.

I. Am. In. LOVE.

It really did the job and is better than a swiffer of any sort. Of course, this is my personal opinion, but if you have hardwood floors, I suggest trying it. I got it for rather cheap at Home Depot for $23.97. This included the cleaner spray, the mop itself, and 2 different cleaning pads. One for picking up loose dirt and the other for actually cleaning/scrubbing the hardwood floors.

A before picture.
and another.
The first thing I did was scrub the floors. I know it's typically a "no, no" to use any water on hard wood floors, but no normal cleaner would have done the job. The floors were just a mess. So I took the smallest bit of Mr. Clean and some water, put it in a bucket, and went to work. Never letting the water "soak". I used an old towel to "dry" it most of the way and turned on my ceiling fans to help it dry even quicker.

This is a softer bristled scrub brush I picked up at Home Depot.
This worked well and didn't scratch up the floors at all so it did it's job.

I picked up this wooden handle at Home Depot instead of the plastic one they were selling along side this brush. It fits the same way and holds up a million times better.
After allowing it to dry completely, I broke out my new toy. I wish I had a picture of the first attachment, but I don't. I will say though that it is super easy to use and gentle on the floors. It's very soft and "fur-like". I had already swept and scrubbed the floors, but it picked up even more. I was rather grossed out.

My new toy.

The next attachment is to really clean the floors. You go along and spray the cleaner, which has a great mist to it. I don't know if some of you notice, but most cleaners drip afterwards in a spray bottle, but this one seemed to be very well made. I started at the far end of my living room spraying one "strip" at a time. About a 12' x 2' area and took the Bona and gently scrubbed.

After doing this about 3 times, my eyes were bulging. It's kind of hard to see in the picture, but my floor was practially shining. Beautiful! I was so estatic!

This is the first bit that I did. *Bliss*

All in all it didn't take very long and the finished product was heavenly. The floor dried almost instantly and could be walked on immediately after I was done. A 5 star product in my eyes, that every hardwood floor owner should have.

The finished product.

NFL/NHL Update #2

Here it is...2 days late. At least it's getting done!

We didn't do too bad on the NFL side of things for our picks. 9 points total, but there were 4 other people who ended up with 10. Hopefully, next week will be a little better.

I'm excited for the game Sunday against the Bengals, it should be a good game. Here's hoping there's some actual consistency in the penalties and calls (that goes for all games across the board).

GO STEELERS!!!  6-3

Delay Caused by Good Friends

Okay, I've now missed 2 posts. *shame shame*

I do plan to catch up though! Things just came up.

One of my best friends, Amber, had a interview in DC yesterday and I went along for moral support, like a good friend. We had a really great time and I'm pretty sure she rocked the interview. Here's hoping!

Just a few pictures from our outting. While waiting for Amber we found a bar to sit at and have a few drinks so we were feeling pretty decent before our train ride back. It was a really great time!

Matching jeans. Rue 21...minus the color, haha!

We may have had a few drinks =)

Before I catch some shut eye before work tonight (11pm-7am..blah!).

Not My Favorite (Rant)
The NFL.
I'm seriously so annoyed after yesterdays games. I was watching on Redzone yesterday and there was penalty after penalty, for no reason. Every deep pass had an interference call attached. It's getting to be ridiculous. No consistency in calls what so ever.

I honestly could go on and on, but I won't. I'm pretty sure the games have spoke for theirselves.
Contact is pretty much not allowed anymore, they may as well be playing flag football.

If it's to keep injuries down..news flash, it's not going to happen!

Love Me Some (Rave)
White Mochas.
Oh my, they are delicious!

Josh and I stopped off at the Daily Grind in Martinsburg, which by the way is a fantastic place to meet up and enjoy a GOOD cup of coffee, or in this case mocha. I love the environment in there.

The one I had there the other was one of the best I've had in a long time. Soo good!

Designing..

Alright so I was already tired of having to change the font and color each day for my posts for the day to make them look different so I went and created picture logos for each.

Tell me what you think!
